Choosing & testing before buying kayaks in Malaysia

Mission kayaks test paddle session can be organized for interested parties

Most kayak sellers in Malaysia will have their kayaks for you to see and touch only at their showrooms. On top of that, some retailers don’t even kayak themselves but yet them claim their kayaks performs the best. We find that a little bit strange.

Outdoor Gear Malaysia recently did a follow up on Mission Kayaks in Malaysia. We saw how they did their road show as well as organizing a kayak ‘test’ session for their potential customers. Like buying cars, you should be able to test out your kayaks before making that first payment.

But let’s be realistic. No retailer will haul all his/ her kayaks down to the beach only for you alone to see and try out. However, if there is a group large enough and within logistical means, a Mission kayak ‘test’ session is definitely possible.

Buying a kayak is like buying a car. There are many brands with all sorts of ‘product claims’ out in the market. While most are good kayaks, some are just pretty hopeless in meeting your needs. You need to go and test drive a particular car yourself because you want to feel the vehicle’s ability and (probably) its comfort levels as well.

The same goes with kayaks. Some kayaks are built for stability while others are made narrow and long for speed on (long) expedition trips. Fishing kayaks like the Mission Catch 390 and Mission Catch 420 are definitely the best choice for anglers in Malaysia now.
